Who Invented The Rules

When privilege is not a birthright

it's time to enter the race

it will be a test of the fittest

with no right or reason to pace

Like a game of

Rock, paper, scizzors

one moves up in the wins

or stays down until withered

til the lights grow dark and dim

Come once, come twice

then it's time to

roll the dice

this is what must suffice

in the game that is life

but what if it's not

meant to be a game

and what if it's not meant

to be about pride or shame

and what if it's not meant

to be, then who's to blame

for this invention so cruel

of this hierarchy

we're schooled

to think one only succeeds

by getting lucky

or being good slave indeed

and what food do we feed

the others in need

the shame of their insistence

is the bane of their existence

untouchables some say

deserving to be that way

some work all day

for so little pay

While others live in luxury

Others are below them are pining

to be free

and was such inequality

really meant to be?

Human beings made tools

they could create, they could abuse

who really invented the rules?

did we ever really choose?

or have we been made fools?
